The power of love helps us to solve any and all difficulties. A Course in Miracles has a section of 50 Miracle Principles at the beginning of the book. It is not a traditional lesson with theory and practical application, but rather set a great tone for our ongoing study of A Course in Miracles. There are several principles that deal directly with the topic of "Love," being our theme for 2022, and below is a breakdown of some of these principles.
1. There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not “harder” or “bigger” than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal.
The way I frequently think of this, is that miracles are very binary. In other words, miracles are either "all on" or they're "all off." Elsewhere in the course, it says that there's this binary nature of miracles which two parts. We have miracles and then we have grievances, which is why last year's theme of forgiveness is so important. Forgiveness is the releasing or letting go of grievances and when we let go of grievances, then miracles remain, or miracles are what's left. As humans, we may think that some miracles are less likely to occur than others. But can something be more "impossible" than something else when, by definition, all are perceived as "impossible?" Let it be liberating to realize that all miracles are the same, and all are simply an expression of love.
Let's take an example that someone might have a cold, and getting back in the swing of work would require a miracle of healing to occur. Someone else might say, well, that really doesn't seem as big or significant or as important as the miracles we sometimes hear about in the Bible, or in other religious texts, such as someone being raised from the dead. But again, the point still holds as we learn about miracle mindset, which is that everything that happens to the body is an illusion. A cold is an illusion. Death is an illusion. Anything that happens to us is sort of like a nightmare. And whether you are dying in the nightmare of the movie or whether you have a cold, being in the miracle state is just waking up to a higher consciousness in which none of that is true or real.
3. Miracles occur naturally as expressions of love. The real miracle is the love that inspires them. In this sense everything that comes from love is a miracle.
Once we're plugged into love, miracles are a result of love. And so here it's really trying to get at the root source or cause of miracles and this is important to pay attention to, because it's not just some mechanical procedure that we're doing in order to manifest miracles, but we are training the mind to tap into this incredible source of love that wakes us up from all nightmares or all horror movies or all delusions, all suffering over to you.
Take an example to apply this to executive leadership. There can be a lot of conflict about personnel issues. So let's say you're managing ten people who report to you as an executive. However, they're not following the protocols, they're not delivering on the expected deliverables, they've got attitude issues, and maybe they're in conflict with one another. The simplest things don't seem to get done efficiently or effectively. If one is not in this mindset, the loving mindset of being plugged into Divine Source, then we get more and more agitated about all the things that are going wrong with our team and in the company or the division or the project, whatever it might be.
The solution is to acutely focus on leaning into Divine love, whether one simply calls that one's intuition on the kind of the more secular or atheistic side, or whether one refers to it as the inner Buddha or inner Christ, that deliberate tapping in and feeling a sense of peace and release and calm. It can lead to a drastic reduction of turmoil with regard to how one presents as a leader. There is almost always a synchronistic or coincidental mirroring for the leaders who do this where everything calms down with all the things going wrong. Once the leader calms down, the whole team seems to calm down and everything gets into a state of flow. Even if there are people who are still not right for the team, they somehow exit in an easier, less dramatic or convoluted way. It's one of the more rewarding aspects of the coaching process to hear a leader say, "I understand. If I stay relaxed and plugged into this source of peace that takes care of me or loves me, then my whole movie calms down," or a miracle happens, in other words. It's very gratifying for a lot of us and we wonder why it took so long to figure that out and apply it. A lot of these things may become obvious after they've been pointed out after one gets the result, but they don't seem obvious beforehand.
This is the importance of staying at a "high vibration," focused with love as the centerpiece of energy, as your natural state. This allows your entire reality, or "movie," to be flooded with miracles, versus the alternative, which is not walking in a state of love, and ultimately state of grievances, which would lead to a reality filled with nightmares.
Frequently following a coaching session, I will experience clients claiming a raised state of vibration from when they started the call. A client may have spent a length of time presenting me with all the things in their nightmare that are going wrong. But by the time we've finished the coaching process and talk back and forth, usually what I'll hear most of the time show much better they feel and how high their vibrational state has evolved. It's amazing to facilitate and witness that type of transformation with the client, knowing that then my client can become a source of doing that with others.
9. Miracles are a kind of exchange. Like all expressions of love, which are always miraculous in the true sense, the exchange reverses the physical laws. They bring more love both to the giver and the receiver.
Of course, in miracles, you see this idea of the physical laws being mostly about scarcity and zero sum game. For example, if I have one million dollars and I give you half of that, then I have less. I only have $500,000 left and you have $500,000. It's a zero sum game. The more I give you, the less I have and the more you give of whatever you have to somebody else, the less you have. That's the kind of thinking that is referred to as the physical laws based on scarcity and limitation. In contrast, here it explains that tapping into love or vibrational states brings more love to both people, both the giver and the receiver. It's not following the physical laws of the body and the material world. The more I give something and the spiritual, the more of it I get and the more the person I'm giving it to get to.
11. Prayer is the medium of miracles. It is a means of communication of the created with the Creator. Through prayer love is received, and through miracles love is expressed.
In order for us to receive love, we have to be plugged in to source, and that as we're plugged into source, sort of like one of our electronic gadgets would get charged up. As we're plugged in, we get charged up. That's how we receive love and prayers. The method by which we get charged up is prayer and I think it's a form of meditation. It's a form of quieting the mind and just doing various exercises, slowing the mind down or doing various exercises to plug in to source. Once we're plugged in and we're receiving love, then we are able to also express miracles, which demonstrate that we were plugged into love. So miracles are usually done on behalf of other people.
What does the course say about prayer? There are petitioning prayers or asking all the way to merging or fusing or joining with God as the ultimate form of prayer. Then there are so many additional nuances to the prayer process. At a fundamental level, they all get described most effectively as plugging in or tuning into vibrationally. For example, Lesson 77 says, "I am entitled to miracles." I usually use that as a sentence completion for the things that I want in my personal life or for somebody else. Every day before I get going with my work, I'll say, "I am entitled to miracles for everyone I work with," and name my specific clients. I know what their situations are. I know what they're trying to accomplish. So I am entitled to miracles. This is me getting into a vibrational state in which I'm plugged in to the source and I'm raising my vibration.
In addition to the types of prayer and thing that are helpful to it, there are also certain mountains of inner blockage that need to be undone. Plugging in has the benefit that we will receive miracle power, but it is crucial to also undo any blockages that have accumulated over time. There are people who may frustratedly say, "I've prayed and I've prayed and I've prayed, and to no avail..." Perhaps there's a missing part about undoing blockage of accumulated toxicity over a lifetime and only then plugging into the divine. These are all discrete skills that go into the manifestation process and if one of them is missing, the process can be more agonizing.
18. A miracle is a service. It is the maximal service you can render to another. It is a way of loving your neighbor as yourself. You recognize your own and your neighbor’s worth simultaneously.
I frequently think of the Prodigal Child story in which the parent in that story basically says to the wayward child, the love I have for you is maximal. It's not based on your performance. Even though you've wasted all this money, you've suffered, you've struggled, you've come back, you're totally, fully welcome back home. And every right of entitlement in my Kingdom is yours again. Then the older child becomes upset about that, thinking that's not fair. He stayed and worked and yet didn't receive any special treatment. The parent says to him, "You've had the keys to the Kingdom the whole time. You've had my maximum love. And again, it's not based on performance." So this is a little bit what the course is getting at that as miracle workers, as people with miracle mindset, we have an attitude which is maximal towards everybody ourselves. Everybody is fully entitled to all, no matter who they are, no matter how hateful or despicable they might seem to us in space and time, that every human being is entitled to all the benefits of God's maximum expression of love. If we keep this as part of the mindset, it makes life a lot more miraculous for us and other people as well.
For this reason, it is not only important to pray for ourselves, our friends, family, and teams, but it's also important to pray for love toward our enemies, which is praying for people who appear in one's perception of the world to be truly despicable. Whether we know them personally or whether they're just figures in the media: tyrants, war mongers, people who engage in genocide and foment hatred. It's easy to say from a certain perspective that whatever we see out there is potentially in any of us. So when we tap into love to release it for our enemies, we're doing it for ourselves. When we do it for ourselves, we're doing it for our so called enemies. In the end, nobody is truly innocent. In the nightmare of the worst that humanity is capable of, we are all complicit in the worst that the worst of humanity can do. So when we release it, we're releasing it for ourselves and for other people.
In conclusion, take these principles as a lesson in reducing toxicity in ourselves as leaders so that we can then create a snowballing effect in which other people tune in to these higher vibrational states: more love, more peace, less turmoil. Then comes a cascading process of people being able to be individually and collectively in the state of flow. And that while this sounds very simple to say, it's an intriguing and complicated process, but it requires steps to it in terms of supporting very ambitious, successful leaders to plug into the vibration of love so that they have actually more flow in their own personal lives and with their team.
Consider a personal application to really solidify your prayer or meditation practice over these next few weeks. Take some time to pray for your team and pray for your enemies. Take into account anything that's going on in the world that you want to apply the miracle of love toward.
